2012 Wrap-Up with Alethea Kontis

Today Princess Alethea wraps up 2012 here on MPB!

GC: What is best book you read in 2012?

AK: Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor and Glamour in Glass by Mark Robinette Kowal.

GC: What was your favorite thing you wrote in 2012?

AK: HERO, the sequel to ENCHANTED.

GC: What was your biggest writing struggle in 2012, and how did you overcome it?

AK: Again, HERO, the sequel to ENCHANTED. Writing a sequel is excessively difficult after your first book comes out and makes a big splash and wins all kinds of awards. Plus, Enchanted was written as a stand-alone--I didn't even know if the publisher was going to continue the series, so I didn't start writing seriously on the book until about 3 months before it was due. But I DID IT. You never know if you can do a thing like this until you try.

GC: What can readers expect from you in the new year?

AK: ENCHANTED will be out in paperback in May 2013. HERO will be released in the fall of 2013. Those who see me at conventions next year will also have a special treat -- Janet Lee and I plan to make DIARY OF A MAD SCIENTIST GARDEN GNOME available in print.

GC: Write down your 'Writing Resolution of 2013!'

AK: To finish both BELOVED and THIEFTESS (books 3 & 4 of The Woodcutter Sisters) as well as TRIXTER (a novella about Trix) in 2013. Among other sekrit things. :-)
