Today New York Times bestselling author, Marissa Meyer is here on the Mod Podge Bookshelf!
GC: What is best book you read in 2012?
MM: There are still two months to go in the year, so I suppose this could yet be de-throned, but I really, really loved SHADOW AND BONE by Leigh Bardugo.
GC: What was your favorite thing you wrote in 2012?
MM: Probably the tweet announcing that Cinder had made the New York Times bestseller list. Ten months later and the awe still hasn't worn off!
GC: What was your biggest writing struggle in 2012, and how did you overcome it?
MM: Most of 2012 has been spent writing and revising CRESS (Book Three of the Lunar Chronicles), and while I love the book, I've found myself awfully tempted to make progress on a brand new, non-Lunar Chronicles manuscript. In the past couple months I've been dividing my writing time so that I might spend 5 or 6 hours on CRESS and have the last couple hours of my writing day to brainstorm and work on something new, which helped to ease the temptation a little.
GC: What can readers expect from you in the new year?
MM: SCARLET: Book Two of the Lunar Chronicles will be out on February 5, and I am SUPER excited for it!
GC: Write down your 'Writing Resolution of 2013!'
MM: Try to strike a balance between writing, promoting, and social life. I feel like 2012 has been very, very promo heavy, so I hope to get to a place where all aspects of my personal and professional life are working together to make me a stress-free, well-rounded individual. Ha, we'll see how that goes!
