The Dead and the Buried Blog Tour: Interview with Kim Harrington + GIVEAWAY!

Today Kim Harrington, murder mysterious extraordinaire, stops by with her thoughts on her final cover, title and hope for the future!

GC: What was the biggest difference between writing The Dead and Buried and writing your Clarity novels?

KH: The obvious difference would be writing a standalone versus a series, but I think the toughest part for me was actually letting go of Clare’s voice. I had to purposefully give Jade a very different personality in order to do it.

GC: If Jade and Clarity got together for a girls day, how do you think the day would play out, and what would they spend their time doing?

KH: Jade would probably love to visit Cape Cod and do touristy things! They’re very different girls. Clare is tough and defensive. Jade is non-confrontational and more, well, kind. But they’re both quirky and have cool senses of humor so I think they’d get along swimmingly. Clare could show Jade the sights, and Jade could give Clare a lesson in gemology.

GC: How do you feel about your cover swap? Do you love the final copy?

KH: I loved the original cover. It was actually my favorite of any of my books. But I’m also realistic and I know that sometimes these things happen and covers have to change. I like the new one, too. I think it’s eye catching and you can definitely tell that it’s a murder mystery. What’s most important, though, is what’s on the pages in between. And I hope readers agree!

GC: Quick! Five words that describe The Dead And Buried!

KH: Haunted house, murder mystery, romance.

GC: Do you find titling your novels to be difficult, or relatively breezy? What's the story behind TDAB?

KH: I am title cursed. THE DEAD AND BURIED actually went through several. It sold as GLIMMER, but then that had to change. It was THE MURDER HOUSE for a long time and I loved that one. But eventually the decision was made to go with THE DEAD AND BURIED, and I like that too!

GC: What's next for you as a writer?

GC: I want to keep writing mysteries and thrillers. I love it! I hope THE DEAD AND BURIED does well so that I’m able to keep writing books for you guys. :)

A haunted house, a buried mystery, and a very angry ghost make this one unforgettable thriller.

Jade loves the house she's just moved into with her family. She doesn't even mind being the new girl at the high school: It's a fresh start, and there's that one guy with the dreamy blue eyes. . . . But then things begin happening. Strange, otherworldly things. Jade's little brother claims to see a glimmering girl in his room. Jade's jewelry gets moved around, as if by an invisible hand. Kids at school whisper behind her back like they know something she doesn't.
Soon, Jade must face an impossible fact: that her perfect house is haunted. Haunted by a ghost who's seeking not just vengeance, but the truth. The ghost of a girl who ruled Jade's school — until her untimely death last year. It's up to Jade to put the pieces together before her own life is at stake. As Jade investigates the mystery, she discovers that her new friends in town have more than a few deep, dark secrets. But is one of them a murderer?
