Historical Fiction in 2011

Hey everyone!

I have a few really good blogger friends, Sab from YA Bliss happens to be one of the very best!

In all her genius Sab has taken it upon herself to create a YA Historical Fiction Challenge for 2011!

I am really excited, and planning to take on at least 15 historical fiction books this year.

The books don’t have to be released in 2011, just read this year. Read the original post HERE.

These are my tentative books:

The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell

Hannah: Daughters of the Sea by Kathryn Lasky

The Betrayal of Maggie Blair by Elizabeth Laird

Cate of the Lost Colony by Lisa Klein

Daughter of Xanadu by Dori Jones Yang

Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen

Wicked Girls by Stephanie Hemphill

Helen of Troy by Margaret George

Tamar by Mal Peet

Under a War-Torn Sky by Patricia Elliott

A Troubled Peace by Patricia Elliott

The Bad Queen by Carolyn Meyer

Distant Waves by Suzanne Weyn

The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn by Robin Maxwell

Dancing Through Fire by Kathryn Lasky

No Promises in the Wind by Irene Hunt

Troy by Adele Geras

The Great Chicago Fire, 1871 by Elizabeth Massie

Alright, that is 31 books. Not 15. I lied, well, I under-exaggerated. So you will see reviews for at least 15 of these books in 2011. Leave me a comment letting me know which of these you most want a review on, a top five would be appreciated!

And now, to spotlight some upcoming historical fiction, I present a fraction of my wish list!

Lily of the Nile by Stephanie Dray

Sigrun’s Secret by Marie Louise Jensen

Forgiven by Janet Fox

The Locket by Stacey Jay

Hi! I loved Margaret George's Helen of Troy. If you are interested in that era you might want to consider PENELOPE'S DAUGHTER, my new historical novel for Penguin/Berkley. It tells the story of the Odyssey from the women's point of view.
