IMM (7)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme created by Kristi, The Story Siren, who is beautiful and wonderful and has amazing books!

This week, In My Mailbox I got-

Firelight by Sophie Jordan

After I won (see my contest entry here)
Miranda Lyons @ Just Read's contest, Miranda was fabulous enough to get Sophie Jordan herself to sign a copy of Firelight for me!

Thank you Miranda and Sophie!

The Lying Game by Sara Shepherd ARC(I watch Pretty Little Liars, but got on board too late to read the books, too bad for me, I won’t make the same mistake now!) Releases December 2010

My Misadventures as a Teenage Rockstar by Joyce Raskin ARC (I love a good music based book!) releases June 2011

The Mermaid’s Mirror by L.K. Madigan ARC (I know, it’s already been released, but NetGalley is still giving me the chance to read it for free, I’ll probably still want a copy, I read the first page and thought, I have to go to bed now, or I’ll stay up all night reading this! I love books about the ocean, mermaid’s, siren’s all that jazz)

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand ARC (a 2011 debut author, it reminds me of Halo, I hope it’s not dark, I hate dark angel books, but the cover is beautiful) releases January 2011

Delirium by Lauren Oliver ARC (I have often wondered what it would be like if true love were banned, before i fall was amazing, I so cannot wait to read this one!) releases February 2011

The Lipstick Laws by Amy Holder ARC (another 2011 debut author, seems a bit clichĂ©, but I still can’t wait to dig in!) releases April 2011

All of these ARCs were provided by NetGalley and their prospective publishing houses. I just want to say thank you to each and if you don’t know what NetGalley is, go here and be amazed!

For the past several months, as more and more E-readers, Kindle’s and Nook’s have crowded the bookshelves of local stores I have been whining. My mother has listened to endless tirade’s on how pretty soon, the magic of books could be lost to the inter-web and the ilk of the Ipad (I want an Ipad so bad) that by the time I have kids I will be buying books in antique stores! What is the point in having a Mod Podge Bookshelf, I ask you, when you have no books to put on it?! She nodded, completely agreeing with me (whilst looking at the latest advertisements for a Kindle) and then she says with a shrug, “It’s the future.”

I couldn’t believe this, my own mother, a writer, wanted a digital copy of all her books?! “For travel,” she assures me, “think how much lighter it would be, and,” she knows me far too well, “you wouldn’t loose or damage them on your trip” le sigh, but what about worn-cover book-love?!

As a note: Worn-Cover Book-Love is the term I use to describe my favorite books, the ones I take out again and again and stroke, or flip open to re-read my favorite scene, so yes, what about worn-cover book-love?

Then NetGalley and I met, it was love at first sight and I sheepishly slunk back to my mama, “Mama? I think I want a Kindle.”

So, what do you guys think? Kindle, or Nook? Are both Kindle’s and Nook’s good for both NetGalley and Amazon?

Tell me below in the comments your thoughts, and what you got in your mailbox!

I am going to have to check out the netgalley! Also, I literally can't wait for your review of The Lying Game! I've been waiting for it!! You're welcome for Firelight, again!

And, I love my Nook. Now, you've seen my picture of my 35 books. I still love books. I love the feel, I love the pages, the smell, just everything! My favorite place is go is book stores, but I couldn't live without my Nook. It's easy to carry around, the books are cheaper. I'm a college student. I don't have room for all my book so my Nook helps until I can have my own library in my house. I plan to buy the book format of all the e-books I read. But, it really is SO handy. I chose the Nook because I trust Barnes and Noble. And, I can still go into the store and search for the books. I have trouble searching through BN.com and Amazon for new reads. So I like with the Nook I can still go into the store and then get it on my Nook. I don't know about the NetGalley though!

LOL you sound so much like me. I thought to own a Kindle was the same as selling my soul to the devil. I was so against it and good news is my new Kindle is scheduled to arrive the end of next week :) Yeah it's scary. REading Net Galley is what sealed the deal for me.

Come see what in my mailbox

I cannot wait for your opinion on Firelight, have heard great things about it and got my copy to read at some point but sure would have been nice to get a signed one like yours!

Beautiful reading list, enjoy Gabrielle!

E-reader, do not have one so not sure about what applies to NetGalley downloads..

My Mailbox is a mixed bag this week

I like my Kindle a lot. You can have books from NetGalley sent directly to the Kindle for a very low price. I like the convenience of having lots of books always at hand.

I have a Nook and while I lurv Net Galley to death, I still like my fav books to be sitting on my bookshelf. Or at least the one's with the pretty covers!

I originally bought my Nook for easy transport of my books and I thought that ebook prices would be cheaper, but I've found that most of the time, I can get the books at Wal-Mart for cheaper than the ebook. But I can't beat carrying my the Nook in my purse, verses several paperbacks.

BTW, Amazon's ebooks are for Kindle's only. I can usally buy an ebook for my Nook anywhere except Amazon. I ended up getting my Nook because Kindles weren't in stores yet and I like to play with my electronics before I buy.

Great books! I much prefer physical books (especially because I have horrible eyesight), but to each their own.
Hope you enjoy! :)

Eeeh! Great books :) I know what you mean about Pretty Little Liars - I only wanted to start reading the series after watching the show, and by that time, I didn't want to be spoiled! So I haven't read them yet either :P Anyway, so jealous of your netgalley arcs! Can't wait to see what you think about them. I'm a new follower :) Have a great week!

Here's what I got in my mailbox this week :)

Great books this week! I'm really happy with the new app that allows Netgalley books to be read/transferred to my ipod through itunes! Happy reading! :)

You got some good books this week! Congrats on your signed edition of Firelight and I hope you enjoy reading Delirium, I'm really curious about that one.

I will be getting my Kindle this week. One of the main reasons why I ordered is because I got tired of always complaining that the books that I want aren't available here in the Philippines. Although now that Book Depository delivers here, that particular problem has been solved. Still, it'll be a lot easier to just order an ebook and download it directly to your Kindle.

I've read all the Pretty Little Liars books and thought it was a pretty decent series. I quite enjoy Sara Shepard's writing style, so I'm looking forward to seeing how The Lying Game is.
Oh, and isn't Netgalley GREAT!? :)

Congrats on your amazing week!
