My Summary:
Dylan is a bad boy in love with a good girl. When his past catches up to him he has to flee and leave his Jess behind. When he gets where he’s going- the middle of nowhere Texas and a prison in the desert, he isn’t sure what he’ll find out, but he knows who he will find.
His father has been in jail nearly all of Dylan’s life for a murder he didn’t commit and before his death sentence is carried out Dylan wants to know why...
My Review:
This book was really good! I enjoyed reading it and thought the characters were very, very unique. Their voices especially carried and rang true.
Andye, at Reading Teen, read this one last year and enjoyed it just as much as I did, but her super-positive review scared me for a minute, as hype always does. Isn’t that silly? Then I did pick it up and couldn’t quite get into the first chapter. Reading from a boys POV always makes me wary, however when I sat down to really read it I didn’t put it down once! I loved Dylan, and Wade as well as the rest of the cast. These were 100% original characters in a thoroughly unique plot.
I am so glad I read this book, and the poetry between the pages. In honor of April being National Poetry Month Carolee Dean will be here tomorrow for an interview!
Notes on the Names:
I felt like they all really “went” with each other, what do you think?
Dylan
Wade
Jess
Thoughts on the Cover:
The cover is gorgeous and hot as hell, but it also gives you a bit of a false impression of the story. Take Me There is no fluffy romance, it goes deeper and means more.

Parental Book Review *spoilers* A la Reading Teen (Thanks, Andye!)

    -Heavy

Other Notables:

-Dylan and his friend Wade were recently released from Juvenile Hall for working in a Chop Shop.  Before they went to Juvie, Dylan says he was addicted to alcohol and pot, but that he doesn't want to continue on that path.

-Mention that a football player (in that small town) could get whatever he wanted, sex, drugs, booze.

    -Wade smokes cigarettes.

-After Dylan finds out some devastating news, he drinks.

-Suicide is talked about and contemplated.

This probably isn't a book for me. Why are they making out in the middle of a road? That doesn't seem safe or comfortable. What if the Road Runner comes charging by? :)

I don't know why this book resonated with me so much, but I just loved it! I'm not even a big poetry fan, but I found that his poems were so incredibly heartfelt and beautiful. I loved this book. I know it's not for everyone, but it was definitely for me!
