I think I fell like a lot of the things I have going on in my life right now leave me feeling as though I do them out of a sense of duty, rather than personal choice. I think that's also why I like to read so much, I can escape the doldrums of reality and put myself in the characters' way-more-exciting lives.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the readathon, and a HUGE thanks to Gabriella for hosting this mini-challenge!!! She had to choose whether to love who she wanted or to do what she was told. There are times when I have to decide to follow my own heart or do what everyone says. Sure it can become a mistake, but that is my mistake to make.

Thanks for the giveaway!
ashleysbookshelf at gmail dot comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15545840601727675325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5908017075262243161.post-29203353617966006692010-12-31T14:38:30.871-05:002010-12-31T14:38:30.871-05:00The character I felt the greatest connection to in...The character I felt the greatest connection to in 2010 was Ben Tomlin in the book Big Brother by Kenneth Oppel. It's a book that I didn't really see many bloggers writing about, but it is such an amazing, emotional story. I felt connected to Ben because he felt such a connection to his "brother" Zan in the story who happened to be a chimpanzee. Not that I've ever had a chimpanzee for a brother, but I just loved his emotion and sense of empathy for the animal. I am a big animal lover so I think that's why I felt so strongly about it.

beths0103 at yahoo dot comBeth S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06944635942712994937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5908017075262243161.post-30226633100124896642010-12-31T04:15:28.527-05:002010-12-31T04:15:28.527-05:00I love these questions. I loved his curiosity, his intense love of learning and especially about things that were a little bit off the beaten path. The kid loved Heironymous Bosch. Haha. He was sometimes depressed, just quirky and had to fight to be understood and had an ironic, slightly wicked sense of humor. rebekah.montgomery(at)gmail(dot)comMeadowlark Laynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16684537248614492144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5908017075262243161.post-34196808556868815992010-12-31T02:10:06.127-05:002010-12-31T02:10:06.127-05:00I answered the question in my Read-A-Thon update h...I answered the question in my Read-A-Thon update here: http://www.braintasiabooks.com/2010/12/out-with-bang-read-thon-update.html

My email is ArcadiaWearsPrada[at]yahoo[dot]com.Cadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00141800540758028311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5908017075262243161.post-19940299945981080582010-12-31T00:45:25.647-05:002010-12-31T00:45:25.647-05:00I'd have to say Kaylee fromRachel Vincents Sou...I'd have to say Kaylee fromRachel Vincents Soul Screamer series . The characters were so well written and the musical connections Andi had and the struggles with wanting to make music a career despite the nay-sayers reminded me of my college days. Alexandrine was the ultimate "mother bear" caretaker doing whatever it took to help the child she loved. The book was one of my 2010 favorites!Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02633364891278747705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5908017075262243161.post-60772079051164174832010-12-30T10:16:05.360-05:002010-12-30T10:16:05.360-05:00I guess my pick would be Georgie from Born Under a...I guess my pick would be Georgie from Born Under a Million Shadows. I'm not sure why I connected with her so well, other than the fact that she was "real", genuine and flawed.
